Thanks :D
I hope it is effective. I don't have much faith in it after the first medication didn't work.
I know we're talking about two chicks here, but all my birds are strictly pets, and I especially hate losing young birds.
When they get older, you can kind of accept it, they've had a good, long life, ect.
But not with babies.
I did hear not to give vitamins, I'll keep that in mind. I actually thought it gave them vitamins and would result in an overload if they had more alongside it.
What would have happened if I didn't know BackYard Chickens.....
You would all get a lot more sleep lol.

Nope - we wouldn't get any more sleep. You've had chickens long enough now to know that chicken-keeping is not a hobby ... it's a disease! And once inflicted with it, there is NO cure. A lot of BYCers will tell you that, even after you give up on keeping your own flock, or when your own are in one of those rare untroubled, "Life is Good" stages, you're still drawn to the site. It's an addiction - and it'll keep you up waaaaay past when "normal people" know it's bedtime!

Directions on the Coxoid bottle should be the correct dosing for birds. If you wish, post a photo of the product when you get it, but that particular "brand" is labeled for birds. You are in a different country and using a different "brand" than we normally use here in the US.

You don't want to give extra vitamins that contain B1 (Thiamine) when giving the Coxoid (Amprolium). Amprolium is a Thiamine mimicker which helps starve out the Coccidia. Just give them their normal feed and treats - just don't add any vitamins/electrolytes to the water or feed during the course of treatment.

AMEN!!🙌🙌

I will do.
It's quite green; they have been eating a LOT of grass.
They escaped from their box a couple of times today as well. But they've barely been in it. I figured the more space they had to roam, the less chance there was of picking up more cocci from dirty bedding, ect.
So I've literally been camped outside watching them all day yesterday and today.
They haven't eaten much chick crumb. Now I'm worrying they'll get wry neck, but to be honest, they've eaten a lot of good stuff and I just need to focus on the cocci now. At least I know what to do with wry neck.
If anyone can think of any plants that might be good to try....I'd welcome suggestions. I found some dandelion root for them yesterday and they ate some.
And thanks again for all your help. I really appreciate it.
Sorry I've not responded for a while, I did read a few books on natural chicken keeping(and while that's how I do I will always treat disease with real medicine) Oregano oil has been tested and used in the U.S. as a more natural way to to treat and prevent Coccidia. Any other herb can also help the immune system in some way or another. ACV in the water not only treats coccidia, but also makes the water taste better. Garlic can help you, as it boosts immune system strength. DE and charcoal can help suffocate the little parasites as well. Kocci-Free is an all natural coccidia treatment, but I doubt it is Avalible. Cinnamon is said to help. Green tea may be benificial. I don't know what this is... But Safflower oil😬 Probiotic powder and latic acid. Try making herbal tea with oregano. Oats help digestion as well. Hope they get better.

Thank you. While I am waiting for my Coxoid to arrive I am trying ACV and herbs to try to boost their immune systems.
I so hope it comes in time.
Found a pretty bad dropping earlier.
Your comments are much appreciated.

Guess what arrived just now....
This is primarily for pigeons but it said it could be used for chickens too.
So the question is, should I give them vitamins today and start this tomorrow or give it to them straight away?
They have only had two lots of nutri drops since the last medicine was stopped; one drip each for two days.
And also would the dosage be correct for chicks, since it's for pigeons? Should I still follow the instructions?
