Herniated Chick needs help! (graphic photo)

Pea brain seems MUCH better. Standing and walking around unsteadily. Cheeping unmercifully. I put another chick in with him again, though they seem to be ignoring each other. Pea brain is sleeping against a stuffed seal and the other chick is against the far wall. Oh well. I will try to update in the morning if the kiddos give me enough breathing room! Well, I just gave pea brain his last feeding for the night, and I need sleep! Goodnight!

EDIT: oh and he pooped greenies twice!

Hello Folks! I went out and bought baby food this morning - turkey and green bean. Mixed them with a little electrolyte water and fed them to pea brain this morning. He is still wobbly on his legs, but looking good. I also put a tiny pat of undiluted baby food in the tip of his beak, which he seemed to swallow ok. I want to keep his fluids up, so until I see him drink (still too wobbly I think) I will keep tubing him. Might try making chick starter mash and seeing if he will eat a small dab like he did the baby food!

Pea brain pooped right after feeding him. It's looking a bit more solid this time, still a bit of the baby green color though. It makes me feel better when he poops because I figure his bowels must be working! @casportpony & @Wickedchicken6 does it look ok to you?
No change in his demeanor. Still cheeping a lot, sleeping a lot, and wobbling around occasionally.

Wow...I missed a lot! I didn't get any updates and didn't get this tag. I'm so sorry I wasn't here, but it appears you had good help. I'm VERY glad to hear that the chick is pooping. I'm feeling like Casportpony, any poop right now is great. It's always a worry with replacing intestines that something doesn't go right and food can't pass. "Usually" things are fine, but there's always that slim chance.

I hope the chick continues to improve. You're doing a fantastic job! It's a lot of hard work when you've got to juggle this around everything else that's a priority.

I'm going to check on this thread specifically so I don't miss anything else. I've been on...but hadn't seen you on the other thread. This one was down towards the bottom and it took until tonight to get here. Keeping an eye on you now...lol.

Glad others stepped in to help, my only experience with this type of thing ended very badly.
