Herniated navel? Help appreciated

Just an update for anyone who wants to see how things turned out.

This chick was called Hope. We 1st hoped it would live, then later hoped it would be a female.
I truly thought it was a male, but when I showed the breeder a pic, he told me she looked female & his line got pick early.
He was right. Hope grew up into a hen.

She laid beautifully pink eggs & we couldn't help but incubate a few.

Her chicks are 1/2 lav orp & 1/2 coro sussex. My son insisted on keeping one (below) & now I'm glad that we did.

Hope's story melted my heart..and her baby is beautiful! I had a lav orp hen that I lost last year. She was the sweetest girl and it broke my heart.

I have a chick (that just hatched in the incubator) that I believe has the same herniated area. I can't get a good view through the incubator lid, but I saw a small bright red bulb area down very low, almost underneath her, which is why I'm having trouble seeing it again.

Sorry to read about Miracle. These babies that are hatching currently are from a hen that I lost to a hawk about a month ago. I realized I had some of her eggs on the counter and decided to go for it. (I also lost her mother to a hawk during the summer.) Out of 18 eggs, 12 have made it to hatch day and 4 have hatched so far.
