Living on the Texas Gulf Coast I know all about hot... 90 is a spring day for us.
I have a second stove hooked up in my garage...keeps from heating up the house. I picked it up for a song at a garage sale many years ago and it's still baking like a champ. I use it if I have a pot that's got to cook a long time or if I need to use the oven. It also comes in really handy during the holidays.
Crock-pots are a great way to cook and not heat up the kitchen...I stick that out in my garage too.
Chili dogs can be done in the microwave. Steaks or hamburgers on the grill...cooking outside is a great way to go.
Tuna casserole doesn't take a lot of prep and you can bake it off in the microwave.
Tacos are quick and easy to put together.
Hamburger steaks are good...
1/2 pound of hamburger per person...cook them on the grill.
Make some brown gravy out of a packet and grill some onions.
Put it all over the hambuger along with some melted cheese and it's really good.
Thank you for the great ideas! The hamburger steak one made my stomach growl. Also a stove in the garage is an excellent idea!! I see them pretty cheap on CL once in a while.
Instant mashed potatoes saves a lot of heat going into the kitchen. Just put all the liquids and butter in a large bowl heat it to a boil in the microwave then dump the potato flakes in, stir and cover. After they have set a few minutes stir and serve. I alway add twice the butter the recipe calls for and add a little heavy cream to the milk. Makes them really good.
