What is nougat?

Ever eat a 3 musketeer? I believe that's nougat inside. Not sure if homemade is the same or not.

This kind of nougat, the white stuff is chewy. It’s kind of like eating a caramel in my opinion.

Probably like what used to be in candy bars. Stuff now doesn't seem the same. Thanks for explaining it.

What is nougat?

Actual nougat is most commonly a chewy thick candy with nuts in it. I've tried various white nougat bars/wedges as I like the combo of nuts and honey, but it's too time consuming for me to want to make it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nougat

The "nougat" in my jelly nougat is just marshmallow, butter and white chocolate, so nowhere close to real nougat. Same with the nougat inside American candy bars, it's more of an approximation and not nearly as chewy or dense as real nougat.
