I miss my bees!

sold them before we moved and starting over in the spring...

favorite is on strained greek or turkish style yogurt - yum!

in cooking
in baking (having orange honey cranberry muffins baked fresh this morning!) on oatmeal, toast, baked squash, glazed carrots, cereal
in tea, pies,

if you sweeten something, you can use honey.

Yes many people get relief from Hay fever type allergies. To reallyhelp you need honey from your very local area.

I am also a bee keeper. I add honey to nearly everything bake. The other night I was cooking frozen peas and decided to try something new so after I drained the water off I stirred in a bunch of this years honey.Yes it was good. Also IF your honey crystalizes DO NOT microwave it. Set the jar in warm120*-130* water or set it in a south facing window and watch turn as needed. Also try taking a little honey and add some Cinnamon OIL then stir that into coffee or tea.

I would love to find someone that I could trade eggs for honey. I am even thinking about putting in some fruit trees and bee hives.

Honey is the best for sweetening tea. FIL is a beekeeper so we get all the honey, bee pollen we can use. It is good just as a big spoonful sometimes also.

Local honey is my new obsession. Part of the self sufficiency, natural food. I work away from home too much to make us totally self sufficient. But with the garden we eat fresh all summer, the chickens give us eggs, and some meat. So, honey will be my next venture. I really want to step away from the processed food, sugar included.

I have found I can use honey to sweet oatmeal and other warm cereals for my kids. I have sweetened lemonade for my son with it. Still finding ways to fit it in. Also the allergy thing has me intrigued. It does last forever, just heat it up if it crystalizes!

We get local honey from a farm very close to us. It is raw and unprocessed. I would love to start keeping bees - they are simply fascinating creatures.

Aside from using it in tea, coffee, and sweeteners, we make Honegar every year and take 2 tablespoons every day. My husband also makes a variety of different flavors of Mead every year.

I agree as far as stepping away from the sugar. I will use honey to sweeten everything from here on out. I will also use it for coooking. I had some in my tea this morning and it taste great. Comparing white sugar to honey, the white sugar felt heavy in my body and made me feel sluggish. The honey did not make me feel that way. I love honey.

unless i overlooked it while reading this thread.....i cant believe no one has suggested what i think is one of the best uses for honey.......mead
