Birdgirl, maybe this will show you how the "hair" is made into a basket:

This one will be a huge thick basket. I actually have the whole tail off a horse that passed away. The first basket did not take anywhere near as much hair as this one will.

I took basketmaking from a lady who saved her Malamute's dog hair and eventually made a basket from yard that was woven from it.

Very beautiful, I've made a few pine needle baskets but never thought about the horse hair. I also have a few horses that could donate.

So neat! I got a few locks of horse's hair (from manes) but it would take a bit more to make a basket. The horses were my past and everyone of them were special to me.
