I couldn’t not vote for Zak, he’s a doll! :love
I missed the thread for posting pics and spotted this thread when I was snooping about
You are too kind..... he is in the bad books again because he has pulled off another shoe in the fence.... it is becoming a very annoying habit. Ian was so cross he took him out with only 3 shoes on, on Sunday.
That's a shame you missed the show entries post. I would have had to vote for Harry if he had been there. He is such a handsome hero!
Did you see my edit to my previous post about Arthur becoming a "foxtrotter" between entry post and poll. I need to look that breed up and see if we have been totally misrepresented

Does he like a bit of strictly!? I can sort it ;)

:lau Probably, and he and I often dance together but don't think we would win any glitter balls!
Just checked Fox Trotters out and that is definitely wrong..... shame cos they sound gorgeous.... apparently they do a 4 beat trot, so it is really smooth! Arthur should be labelled a Standardbred cross in American English.

At only 3 there is still time for glitter balls to be won ;)
Arthur is now back to a trotter cross so you can put your sequin dress back in the wardrobe Barbara

Thanks Kim but I was getting to quite like the idea! I wonder if you can teach any horse to foxtrot..... surely if I can teach them to wee in a bucket and my sister can teach them to go up the paddock, pick up their feed bucket and bring back and pass it over the fence, a 4 beat trot shouldn't be too difficult!!

You should get yourselves down to Olympia International horse show with those tricks! Starts on the 17th of this month!

Really not sure people at Olympia would want to pay money to see my horses wee into a bucket on request and they might get shy in front of so many people and not perform ;).
I'm actually chuffed to bits this year that after much resistance to the idea, my old lady, Cora, has now decided she will also cooperate. In fact she has gone from one extreme to the other.... she will come and have a wee and then 15 mins later try to squeeze another one out because of course there is a payment system involved for successful attempts!! I need to make payment by the volume rather than the mere event I think! Just shows, you can teach old dogs new tricks, but they may have the last laugh. It costs me nearly as much in nuggets and carrots as I save on straw, but at least it reduces the size of my muck heap!

My biggest problem is getting them to wait in line because I can only hold the bucket for one at once and it is starting to become competitive and with 4 of them sharing a stable it can get a bit fraught!!

Front or back? If front could he go out in over reach boots??
Front as usual and he has very poor front feet too... both soft white horn, so it doesn't help having shoes replaced so often and all those extra nail holes. I'm not sure if overreach boots would help as he puts his feet through the pig wire to eat the grass on the other side and then pulls and rips them off when he steps back. At least that is Ian's theory.... he is always in the fence line and he never worries about getting his feet stuck anywhere, which is great when Ian is out hunting because he will go through the most dense brash or boggy ground without a care in the world, but not great when it means he rips shoes off.
