Here are pics of my 3 mottled houdans at 7 weeks. We had 4 but lost one to a 6 foot black snake. Two have great crests, the third is kind of spikey and not as full. Does that mean it is a boy, or just doesn't have as good a crest?

Hello Houdan experts out there. Comb question: Do the girls get them, or only the boy? Looney is definatly a boy. They are 11 weeks now and his little horns are coming in and his face/wattles are much redder than the other two. No crowing that I have witnessed yet. His comb is so hard to see because of the crest and I was wondering if the girls should/will have them too? Thanks.
by standard definition houdans should have small combs.
my 2 hens just started to lay and they have basically no comb...
Do they have little nubs of a comb? One of my girls (I think) has a tiny little nub and I am hoping she is a she and not another boy in disguise. How old are yours that are laying?
Here are some pics of my trio now 11 weeks old. The girls got "hair cuts" as they literally could not see where they were going and would walk right into the other chickens and would freak out when they did. To keep them from hurting themselves, we decided they needed to be able to see.
