Unfortunately, the problem (not the problem..... the GOOD thing) is that you can't readily reply to those things... it's just too easy when all you have to do is hit the "submit" button... thank goodness you CAN'T readily reply to the news, papers and commercials.... then I'd loose my other favorite past time

I don't think a ban would help. Like someone else said, it would just be hijacked in another post anyway. I personally am not that into politics but have found some of the threads interesting. When it gets out of control, I just don't read it, or sometimes I do just for the entertainment. I dislike the religious stuff but overlook it.

What REALLY irritates me though are the nasty people who have to force their opinions on others and hijack threads. I always try to be polite and courteous to others and many times have typed a harsh reply back to someone who offended me but I hit the back button instead. I say if you don't like it, don't read it but be nice about it.

I am not offended by people who put religious quotes or bible verses in their signature lines. Doesn't mean I agree or disagree with their religious beliefs. I've always been open to other peoples beliefs and wouldn't presume to tell them they're wrong and going to hell just because they don't believe the same as I do. I think there are a lot of people on this earth who are going to be in for a rude shock when they get to those "pearly gates" and see who else made...or didn't make it in!! I think the goodness in a person's heart should count for more than what church they do or don't go to on their sabbath.
