Have you done a physical exam to confirm the lice?

You need to look at feather shafts next to the skin for egg clumps as well as look for actual bugs on the skin.
I’ve seen some egg clumps on a two hens, but not the actual bugs

I even got the large egg clumps off of my hens

If there are egg clumps and no bugs it could be mites instead of lice. Mites live in the nooks and crannies in the coop coming out at night to suck the blood from the chickens.
That is why treating the coop is critical.

Yikes okay
Can I see the mites if I go out at night and look?

They are unbelievably tiny. Instead of looking try running a white paper towel along the bottom of the roost. If it comes back with red smears that would be mites that have fed. Grey streaks are mites heading toward the birds to feed.

The streaks may be tiny so examine that in good lighting.

About an hour after dark is a good time to check.

Okay thank you very much!!!

I really think the permethrin will help. It should start killing, whatever pest is alive, instantly right?

Does ivermectin injectable really help deter/treat mites and lice?

Ivermectin can be used to treat the chickens, but you have an egg withdrawal period. You still would re-treat in 7-10 days. I'm not sure about how to use the injectable version though. The permethrin mentioned above treats both hens and coop.

I mostly used the ivermectin for treating worms, which worked really well.

As long as the permethrin will work, its okay if the ivermectin only helps with worms!

I am going to get that permethrin ASAP

Thanks so much guys! You guys really helped me narrow down my problem

There is an egg withdrawal and you would still retreat in 7-10 days not 2-3 weeks for worms or pests. Ivermectin is effective on pests if used correctly and the coop is cleaned and treated as well. It can be overused though and then it loses the effectiveness.

Okay that makes sense.
