How I went from egg hobby to obsession

Yeah, I hear ya with the growing up poor. In Cali it is not such a good thing (where I am originally from too) I sailed to Hawaii after 10 months in Mexico when I was 15. I did not like Hawaii much and almost jump on a boat and sailed back a few times, wanted to go back to Mexico . Put I stuck it out and now 42 years later I know I don't fit in anywhere else cept maybe NC with Tracy and her farm stand! I know I could not leave my slew of animals/children and would go broke shipping them all anywhere. IDO want to move to the Big Island were we have a few acres. Maybe one day...

I looked at land on the big island, almost made the hop too.. but the vog makes me very sick.. like permanent nausea, even if it is super light. Otherwise I'd definitely be there. I cannot do the windward side there, near Hilo.. i had a coworker who survived the big tsunami that hit there, and literally half the town of neighbors and friends disappeared for him.. so heart breaking. I wouldn't be able to relax. And i need sunshine or ill get S.A.D.

I stepped on a rusty nail today. Thank goodness for modern medicine! Crocs don’t have shocks, y’all!

I made a custom pallet planter for my climbing cucumber plants. 7’ tall and only spent about $7 on it. Trying to spruce the house up a bit. Also got this awesome vintage 60’s Coke machine that dispenses glass bottles! So cool!!

We try to keep lots of antiques around our house. It was built in 1910.

and here are some more pics of my latest flock adoptees. My main flock took in another rooster today and it’s going great!

How do you prevent them from pooping everywhere if they are indoor house chickens?

They live in a large rabbit hutch, but the 2 d'uccles are potty trained (at least from pooping on me or "soft" stuff -- carpet, sofa, etc.), but they do have chicken diapers if they are going to be out for a substantial time.

Lucky chickens!!! Great job on the $7 trellis Being a cheep-a-scape is the new sexy right? Nothin' like a gal with a hammer and a rusty nail in her shoe.

Aloha kids, just bumping some of my more favorite threads.
I'm waiting on my own hatch of potentials... any day/minute now! Trying to figure how I am going to GRACEFULLY be more breed specific in my small space... resisting the urge to do a big hatch of mix barnyards in the hope of a few more dark or light brahma's... and enjoying the kittens!!!
