He just had all the symptoms of it. I really knew when he recovered when giving him the treatment for it. If you're asking what the symptoms were, it was stumbling, falling, then eventually couldn't walk at all, the stargazing, which is actually another term they use for it, and it looked like he was going blind which is another symptom they can have temporary blindness. Keeping neck turned. I think that's all, I can't remember anything else right now.
It's actually not related to like our type of polio at all it's a deficiency. Its full name is polioencephalomalacia.

We had a scare with Black Betty when she was pregnant with little Scoot Scoot a month before he was born. Betty developed a lump under her right ear and it was getting larger by the day, we thought it might be CL (Caseous Lymphadenitis) from what we had read about it. So we had no choice but to take her into the Vet to get her checked out because of how serious CL can be. CL has no cure and can infect your whole herd if she tests positive for it. Thank goodness the test came back negative and she didn't have it.

That is where I learned how easy it was to do a fecal float to check for parasites. So I thought why not invest in a microscope and the equipment to start doing them our selves. The Vet charges us $25.00 for just that test and I figure our little investment should pay for it's self in no time, while being able to keep all our animals healthy.

Just curious, do you trim your animals hoofs yourself?

I haven't downloaded the pictures yet. They are having a quiet nap under the brooder plate after the ride home. Shhhhh.....

The chick dried out over night, and look's to be doing ok. I dipped it's beak in some vitamin and electrolyte water, and put it back in the incubator. I'm still waiting on 13 more in there to hatch, but some will have the NN's on them.

It look's like one of my NN Aloha egg's is starting to hatch now. It will be a part of my beginning my own line of these.

It's actually great to keep in mind, from what I hear it's really not an uncommon thing. Yep! I do trim their hooves. Learned when I was I think ten actually lol. Done it since. Also an update, not sure if I mentioned but Ruby's eye is clearing up and although she had a slight back step yesterday and had to tube feed, she's back to eating herself today and actually seems like she's eating better than before.

Me too. Not to get too personal but I've had some significant stuff going on personally so it's been really great to be able to do what I love most in life which is helping animals you know? thanks for listening and supporting
