I have 3 hens and collected 3 eggs today and also 3 on Sunday March 1st. I've been receiving 1 or 2 a day all winter (except for 2 days), but haven't collected 3 in the past few months.

They slowed down mine did too. I am still waiting for my girls to get completely cranked back up.

Went out to give fresh water this morning, was pleasantly surprised to find one egg in what looks like a burrowed nest from my mallard. Surprised to see it being March, however we're expected to hit 60*F by Sunday which is rare for us in MN. I think the birds are confused by our "fools spring" we're having.

side note; she laid 7 eggs late fall, but they were randomly placed and hurried. This egg is in which looks like a little built up nest, however, since it was nice and I filled up there small pool for bathing (an overly large converted litter box) she is now happily bobbing in that and not sitting on it. Should I take it? I'd like ducklings this spring....but is March to early to hatch? There are no more eggs I have found as of now.

This morning I got 6 duck eggs but one cracked. My mama Cayuga eggs are more fragile than the others, I wonder if it’s age? They all get oyster shell..

In a side note I have given away 6 dozen eggs in my road side cooler, I’m almost through my surplus AND someone dropped of 20 cartons! How nice. They left their contact and I have met some new people which is fantastic since I have felt a little isolated and lonely since moving here.

I hereby dub this experiment a success

I love this idea!! I do this with extra veggies when I over plant my garden (which seems to be every year ) Never thought to do this if I have too many eggs.

My children passed the first 9 years of their childhood, next to a cow farm in France, and they often played there. However, the farmer did not have poultry in the farm. So when I decided to start my urban raising ducks adventure here in US, it was the first time when they experienced how the eggs are hatched and saw those fluffy ducklings hatching from eggs. Thus, for them, each eggs has potentially a duckling inside We used to eat foie gras ... now they even don’t want to hear about.

If I put a cooler out by end of our dirt road which we cannot see from the house cooler an all would probably be gone by morning
