How many of you have your chicks in your house?

11 chicks left in the house right now in two different brooders. 6 blue silkies in one, and the 5 mutts I hatched in the other. The 3EE's and 3BO's got moved outside when the silkies arrived. I only have room for two big dog crate brooders in the house.

What, that isn't normal???

I have six 2 week old chicks in my livng room, right next to our pellet stove...before they were there, I had 17 baby chicks there..I also have two 10 week old BO chicks that are still in the house...is it normal? In the mind of chicken people, yes it is very normal! I know my 10 week old should be outside..but I am not ready...so show your mother this site and all the treads about raising baby chicks!! If we are all crazy chicken people..then I wear that label with ALOT of pride!!

I have 5. 7 week year olds and 6, 2 week old chicks in side the house right now big ones are goin out side my mom thinks the same thing but what does she know

14 chicks in a brooder in the storage room in the basement. (It's a walk out basement, so I can take them outside on nice days without bringing them upstairs...) My brooder is a big black 110 gallon water tank I bought from TSC for $65.00. Really works great!

I've also got 4 Polish bantam frizzle eggs and 7 Buckeye eggs in the incubator, plus more coming........

It's so easy to keep them downstairs, you never have to worry about losing them all because it's cold and the light burns out.......They're always safe.

Seems logical to me! I do have to keep them ultra clean though....Hubby does NOT want to smell them. That means total brooder clean-out about every fourth day. The chickies are getting pretty big now....they're nearly a month old. 6 red pullets and 6 straight run SLW from TSC, and then 2 Olive Egger chicks I hatched........

I do think it's a pretty normal thing to brood chicks in the house for chicken people......

We intentionally left a bathroom gutted to use as a place to brood our chicks. We will finish the remodel after they are big enough to go outside. Doesn't everyone figure chick brooding into their remodeling plans?

Mine are in my room in a box. I have 16 in one box that are one week old. I plan to have them out side once the weather stops being soo flippy so within 4 weeks.

(and a chick thats 12 weeks old whom is recovering from some injuries, and will soon be out)
