How many of you have your chicks in your house?

I have 4 in my bathroom right now, in a rabbit cage just like pgpoultry's. They stay in until the weather gets warmer, usually about when they get to be about 6 weeks old or so, and then they move out to the garage for a few more weeks until they are as big as the rest of my girls. Then it is out to the coop with them.

I had 31 chicks in two brooders in the upstairs bathroom, but moved 11 out to the screened porch yesterday. I usually keep the chicks inside until they are about two weeks old before moving them out to the brooder in the shop.

I always start my chicks in house then move to rabbiit cages that I cover the floor with a heavy landscape material so nothing can pull them thru wire floor ....then onto chicken pens when large enough to run with flock

anyone sell silkie chicks at swaps what kind of price are new chicks bringing ? I have some to sell and just wondered what price to put on them

We thought of putting our brooder in our spare bathroom, but that is attached to our bedroom and didn't know if their peeping would keep us awake at night. We opted to keep them in hubby's shop for the time being....so far it is working out well!

we actually have to tubs in our bathrm and 1 in guest bath and they dont seem too loud so far

I was surprised that I don't notice any smell! I was all for having the babies out in the shed that is literally 5 feet from my kitchen door, but then I SAW them... oh and they are so tiny so yep, moved the brooder in right next to me in the office. I love the sound of their little peeping.

I have been using a THICK bed of pine pellets and the ones that get soiled, break apart and filter down to the bottom. It is working really well for us, and my DH is super sensitive to smells so I was quite surprised that he is even fine with it. I have only cleaned ours out to the bottom of the brooder once last week when they were 3 Weeks old. I have 8 baby chicks. So that is not bad at all.

hmmm.....almost 80 people say yes....Im thinking its not so weird!!!! LOL. My mom can kiss my chicks fluffy little butts. I change the shavings every wednesday, so I dont see how it is such a big deal. I dont think it is much different than having a guinea pig. And chicks dont pee.
