Yes it is not fair to the animals just to kill them and that's it. You are allowed to kill them if their on your property. But I would never just kill them. I would try to use every bit of them (like eat them, their meat) so at least their life doesn't go to waste.

Some apartment complex hire people to go around and kill all the ducks their, even the 1 day old ducklings. There have been multiple stories of people seeing others go around with a hammer and WHACK!

If you want your own flock, why not look on Craigslist. There are always drakes for sale - even muscovies.
But, you have quite a few months to be worried about mating, broodiness, and hatching ducklings.

When I was little we would go to this park with about a hundred of them (with a playground right next to the pound. It was so cool because on the side there is this rock formation and the ducks go in the holes to nest so you could walk on the rocks and watch them hatch.

We would also bring cheerios and while one was feeding them another would walk up behind and pickup a teenager duck (i was seven) they were really nice and didn't try to escape.
 
Well, good luck then. I hope your memory is as pleasant as it sounds. The ducks you have mentioned are much more tame than my hand raised muscovies.
 
I was born and raised in Florida and am very glad I don't live there any more. I would be heart broken knowing this was going on and there wasn't anything I could do about it. :(

I like your blog about Muscovy's it was very good.

If there are a lot of male ducks around already, do you know how to crack open an egg and check for fertility? I would be surprised if you had several neighborhood Drake’s and your eggs not be fertile. Unless they have no access to yours.
