How much would you pay for a dog?

Wow your shelter charges $400??? That is crazy! Oyr shelter charges $40 and most are already spayed or neutered! I have heard the east coast is expensive but that is nuts!! Have you tried pet finder?

I have paid for two dogs and I've owned alot of pets. Both were chihuahuas, one was $150 and the other was $75, both dual registered not that it mattered as they are just pets not breeders or for show for us. I would never never pay more than that. I'll pay what they have in it, fixing, defleaing, vet visits, microchipping, food and alittle extra for time. I don't feel anyone should make a fortune off of their dogs, business or not. That's just me though.

If you go with a breeder there is usually a runt or two in a large breed litter that isn't of good enough quality to sell for their full price that they may consider selling for "pet" quality. That's how we got our dogs when I was growing up. Dad always took the "non" good dog and the breeder would cut him a deal on it. Usually these ended up being the best pets

I paid $500 for our "mutt" BUT and this is a HUUUUUGE BUT, he is a Neopolitan Mastiff x Cane Corso and in this country you couldn't get either dog pure bred of any decent quality for less than $1500 pet quality. He was bred by a wonderful gal who breeds both Neos and Corsos and crosses the two to achieve a more athletic dog than the Neo is with the head size and extra skin more than the Corso has. Both of these Italian Mastiffs are still very rare in this country.

Besides, Ain't he cute?????

I paid $1000 for my min pin... BUT she is CKC registered, has a health guarantee I can trace her lines back pretty far...

I am sorry but $1400 for a dog who already has an existing health condition is way to much..

and i dont want to sound like a snob or a pretentious arse but there is no such thing as a PURE golden doodle. When it comes down to brass tacks its a cross breed dog. Dont get me wrong i love them they are the cutest things they can take the best of both worlds, take the best from both breeds

me personally I would not spend more then a few hundred (if anything at all) on a dog with pre existing health conditions (you mentioned she had a broken wrist)

what ever you do... make sure the breeder is a responsible breeder.... back yard breeders who have little to no feelings for their dogs, will breed them to the point of exhaustion will not produce a good quality pet

I have paid that for a dog several times; but I think the question is are you willing to pay that for the dog you want and why..?

we bought our golden retriever for $300, but she didn't have papers or anything, she was only purebred in the sense that both of her parents were goldens. i don't think that i would pay that much for a dog.

Anywhere from $200 to $500 for a dog. If I was going to spend that kind of money, it would be a champion Borzoi which they do come close around that price.
