How old was your hen when she laid her 1st egg?

Will this delay things? I am in the same boat...

I'm no expert, but it wouldn't surprise me if it could! You know that women who live all together often end up with somewhat synchronized cycles, so why not chickens? I believe most herd animals are the same way.

very interesting indeed. I have got two other hens that are laying but I can't put any of the other young hens with then are they are very dominant due to thier size. I guess I just have to wait until someone starts laying...

Updated!

My chickens are at 27 and a 1/2 weeks today, and the ones that STILL haven't laid are the Black Langshan, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, and one of the Blue Andalusians.

The hens that lay only when they feel inclined are the the Light Brahma, White Orpington, and White Faced Black Spanish.

The hens that lay every day are the Buff Rock, Rhode Island Red, White Rock, Blue Andalusian, White Laced Red Cornish.

The best egg-layers by FAR are our Black Stars, who are a few months older than those listed above. The RIR shows signs of egg-size increasing finally, but most of the younger ladies still lay small eggs.

My earliest layer was a Golden Buff who laid a nice egg at 14 weeks old. My latest layer was an EE who was 25 weeks old. Most of them started around 18 - 20 weeks.
