How smart are deer ?

hanging house bricks from it huh, 17 years ago(who's counting?) the person I was going with told me when he was young he could push a refrigerator with it.. What, do men have - feats of strength?. Besides why would anyone want to unless they wanted to clean underneath it?

:clap

Walked up on him yesterday, and he spooked out of a piece of brush. Ran about 40' and stood there looking at me. I yelled, "Get out of here, Bucky, and he slowly walked down towards our parking area. Just before I left for home, I checked behind the pole barn, and there he was bedded down in the cover. He is still rubbing, and his antlers are polished bright white.

Came home from the club and walked dogs back to their pens and saw a deer bedded down on the lawn by the West hedgerow. I was like, "Bucky, is that you ? Where are your new antlers?" I got within 20' of her and she leisurely got up and I noticed her full udder - there's a fawn or 2 nearby.

Maybe Bucky is a Daddy! He may have sent them your way, after explaining how nice and polite you have been, and how safe they would be. ;)

Deer like Bucky are super intelligent. They know exactly where they are safe or not safe. The most likely reason no hunter has gotten him, yet.. is because he is nocturnal during the hunting season.
My family use to have a big ranch in South Texas, the bucks learned at a very early age to become nocturnal during the hunting season, even during the rut...the truly huge bucks would not show themselves in the day light hours.
As soon as the season was over, you'd see them agan, during the day. I guess the presence of hunters and other human smells, vehicle traffic, etc had diminished, so they figured it was safe again. :idunno
I've seen huge bucks kneel down and then crawl on their bellies to get away from a hunter. Have also seen them kneel down and just hold tight until the hunter passed by their location. Just really depends on the amount of pressure that's put upon them during the season.
