How smart are deer ?

He lives, he lives, but lets not let anyone know, okay ? I went looking for him today. There's a swampy area to the East side of the grounds parallel to the fence and a wooded area on the outside. It's protected from the wind and gets afternoon sun so is a nice little micro climate. No one but me trains there. As I was walking up along the fence he came out of the cover about 60' away and stood there staring at me. I stopped, talked to him and then slowly approached another 20' or so. Not wanting to invade his space any further I stopped. I could hear his girlfriend snorting off to the West, but we just sort of looked at one another for what seemed like minutes. Finally he turned and walked away lightly flagging his tail. He is a 10 pointer, but the rack is not as significant as I thought it was. It was good to see him. Yep, guess that kid got the big buck.

Great news Sour, it's icky out here. I was worried about him too. It's odd but haven't seen any lovesick deer doing anything. Usually it takes place in the field alongside the house.

Well he survived the bow season, but shotgun/antlered season started today, and I hear a lot of shooting from the West towards the beagle club.
