How the heck to get a 4 month old human baby to sleep PIC UPDATE

I never needed a swing or anything fancy - I used a sling and carried my kids around, and when it was bed time I went to bed with them (I co-slept with my kiddies till they were 2 or 3 or 4 - well heck my 6 year old still comes creeping into bed if she wakes up at night)

Yes I would be afraid of have the baby sleep with me ...exspecially when I am so very tired and in a heavy sleep ....I usually never had the baby sleep with us ...never say never lol ....and I would wake up in a nightmare whenever they were in there crib ...I would dream that they were actually sleeping in the bed with us and freak out moving /pushing hubby out of bed looking for them ...
But on the other hand when they were a toddler and I normally would be the first one to fall asleep reading a book to them in their bed...

If you lay the baby's head on your forearm, then you will be conscious of their presence even when you sleep. At least, that is how it worked with me.

I just thought of something.... Goodwill and Salvation Army have the hugest selection of infant jammies, onesies, baby blankets, and all the ultra important baby things. I wouldn't buy bottles and nipples there, but the clothes and blankets, heck yeah! ALSO, in the back of the store, they have the baby toys, the little infant gym that goes over them while they lay there and coo and kick. My Goodwill usually has at least 4 of those every time we go in. You can find high chairs, bouncers (or whatever they call them now), all kinds of finds. The clincher is you usually will not find everything you need on one trip. But you have time to prep for the things you'll need once she's sitting up.
Don't forget Freecycle, they are always giving away baby stuff on there.
Craig's List, yard sales, friends and church. People can be VERY generous with baby items.

Babies grow so fast so unless you are planning on having alot of kids in the future second hand is not a bad way too go b/c most things are very gently used.

The vibrating bouncy chair, mylacon (sp?) drops for gas, and the rocker helped... and if I got really sleep deprived my MIL would show up (radar?) and take the babe for a ride... ten minutes max and they were out cold... tricky getting them into bed sometimes... actually, I remember conking out on the couch once and awoke to find MIL/DH had just put the carseat w/baby in it in the crib intact... not good to do every day, but for a once in a blue moon rest it worked well. I'd have done the driving, but I was falling asleep on my feet. Also was caught more than once n the rocker (more like a recliner chair but no recline only rock) with my feet on the hassock with both me and baby sacked out... nursing is DRAINING... in more ways than one.

Best of luck!
