Hello, I'm working on a project with my rooster's spurs. I'm making earrings, but before I do anything I'm unsure on what to use to clean them. Yes, the inside is hollow, with dry blood from when they were removed. Which, is why I need them cleaned- regardless they need cleaned.

I'm curious on what to use to clean them without destroying them, if this makes sense. I want the dark green-brown color of the spurs to stay, and I don't want the spurs layers to flake and peel. I'm sure using spurs for a project instead of getting rid of them right away isn't extremely done a lot, so I'm not expecting much. Any ideas?

Thank you!
Question. Since I don't have
I would probably give them a soak in cold water then use some peroxide on them too, wiping them out with Qtips. Use a light lacquer or spray to coat them after they're clean so they look clean and glossy on the outside and don't flake.
Question. Since I don't have Lacquer, would this Polycrylic work?
