How to get hens to lay eggs again?

They seem to be going into a molt. Not common in June, is it? Or can stress bring on a molt? I have no idea! I'm thinking they are older than he remembered. Not a case of dishonesty, as he has had a good reputation in town, but a case of "forgetfulness" at 86. Time flies faster than we think!

Some birds do molt early, though they tend to be older birds with a shorter laying season. It could be stress related, or it could be a sign of age. If they're not as old as I think, they'll likely resume laying later this season.

My oldest hens molted as early as July last year (when they were 6 yrs old) and that was it for the year, they didn't lay again until late spring this year.

Thank you! They seem content, so I'll just keep waiting! The man we got them from will have pullets ready in September, so we may need to get a couple!
