Adding a sack of rice (I just put a bunch of rice in a napkin) will help lower humidity, that is what I did. You'll have to monitor the humidity and take it out when it gets low enough.

x2 on that.I would think that if an expensive egg were being incubated the very first thing to do would be to CALIBRATE the hygrometer and thermometer. Get equipment working accurately before spending more money and time on such a venture.
You already said that on my last post and I’m fully aware. I did start it up first thank you, and the thermometer works and I even checked it with another to prove myself. This is my first hatch for an emu egg so my first tome wasn’t the best. So again I do get the point about the humidity and that is why I posted on here how to drop it. My equipment is fine and works properly it is just the humidity around it.I would think that if an expensive egg were being incubated the very first thing to do would be to CALIBRATE the hygrometer and thermometer. Thank you!!! I will definitely try it!! Cooked or uncooked? I’m assuming uncookedAdding a sack of rice (I just put a bunch of rice in a napkin) will help lower humidity, that is what I did. You'll have to monitor the humidity and take it out when it gets low enough.
I did start with zero water to begin with and it stayed around 50 when I added water to the whole incubator it raised it to like 60 so I quickly emptied the water out and set a small tiny bowl inside and it went back down to what it began with to 50. So zero water didn’t drop it down to what it is supposed to be. But I’m going to use a dehumidifier.Start with zero water. If too low, add one shot glass of water. If still too low, add another. does that make sense?
How did you verify that the humidity was correct? Do you have a second hygrometer and did you calibrate that one? If you didn't, you have no way of knowing what the actual humidity is.You already said that on my last post and I’m fully aware.
