HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT - BYC SOFTWARE CONVERSION Tuesday 1/10/2012

We agree, it was definitely not an easy decision. Consider the options we had in front of us:

1) Wait until there was a viable and tested auction module available for this platform. This means all the other features, ability to handle future growth, etc. would be put on hold until we could launch with this additional feature... which could have been a very long time.

or

2) Launch without the same auction functionality now , make due with the system (as we did in the past), and try to bump up the priority of the creation and addition of an auction module.

It wasn't an issue or decision of "I wonder if we even need auctions... let's get rid of them!" It was "Wow, this is really going to suck to loose auctions, but we desperately need to improve all these other areas... what do we do?"

Again, it wasn't an easy decision at all. We spent more time evaluating this decision longer and harder than most people spend evaluating which job to take, where to buy a house, or in some cases, who to marry (ya, you know who you are!)

So, just like any big life decisions, we weighed the pros and cons and made a decision. We know more than anybody (we've been engaged with this community longer than most) what we're loosing, but we also know what we're gaining. We just ask for your trust and understanding as we make these very hard decisions.

Cheers!

The loss of the auction format was big for us too. Wynette and I were stomping our feet when this was being discussed.

Hopefully in time, it will be added back.

hey, since you are all here (Rob) I wanted to mention (so trivial really) that we have so many waterfowl people here, and no duck smilies !!
Alot of these duck people have mentioned to me how they feel cheated with no duck smilies...LOL
So, maybe you can add some ?

Exactly! The original goal was to make the change in November, but we had some unexpected problems and wanted to get those all fixed. We worked overtime with the engineers to make this happen ASAP so the dust will settle before the start of this next Spring season!

I agree with chickielady re" duck smilies but, don't forget the turkeys eithers - they're feelings are easily hurt and chickielady has some beauties - something I never would have said about turkeys till I saw her photos.
