Yes... if you are hatching chicken eggs... and left it that way long term it could cause them to drown at pip or to grow to large and not be able to turn and pip the correct end of the egg. I suggest carefully removing all the eggs and ditching ALL the water. 55% may be too high.
See where your incubator runs COMPLETELY dry for several hours and then add water from there.. ONLY up to 45% is the MAX I go. If you haven't yet researched "dry" hatch method... maybe do so quickly.
I keep my humidity at 35-45% through day 18 and then raise to 65%. Only 20% through day 18 for very dark eggs though.
I also suggest removing any vent hole plugs now if you haven't done so. What kind of eggs are you hatching? In what bator? Do you have a thermometer and hygrometer?
I also suggest moving your eggs to a new location inside the bator every day or two. It helps to ensure even development of the embryos since even in forced air, there are still temp and humidity variances throughout.
It should NOT have caused any current harm though.
