We had a bat in our house about 2 weeks ago and that was certainly exciting. Not a rabid squirrel, but still hilarious. Husband and I were trying the Chris Farleys 'Black Sheep' method and couldn't get it to go out the open door so I grabbed an aquarium lid and cornered it. Then slid cardboard up behind it as it hissed and peed at me and I released it outside. The turkeys in the brooder thought it was terrifying and and the dogs were amused. Still don't know where or when it came in...
I had a bird fly in the house one time - it finally flew back out after flying through every other room in the house :).

Ugh... I didn't catch all of the news, but I just heard on Weather Channel that Jose is moving WNW about 9 mph, is headed to the East coast and will likely become a hurricane again. I wasn't looking at the TV so not sure what part of the east coast they think it might hit.
Thank you for this post, will watch the 10 o'clock news closely tonight, may have to add those on the atlantic coast to the prayer list.

I am a meat hunter, don't really get the trophy thing. Of course, I am a woman, and I do have the first deer skin I bagged after Katrina, lost the very first one in Katrina,so just replaced it. DH has made me some great moccasins from skins in the past.

Use the whole animal including the pelt. I always wanted a winter coyote jacket, have never gotten one. Don't think I'd eat the meat. Never heard of anyone eating coyote.

:thThis is the year we're all gonna get it. I figured the East Coast here would suffer in the winter (freak hail storms, ice, epic snowstorm....the usual) - but obviously Fall is going to be a problem. I've gotten used to having a Roo in the house part time to keep the neighbors happy.....what's a few hens (20) too?
