I've read that winds downgraded to a category 3 hurricane from category 4. A category 3 with winds about 123 mph can still flatten a chicken coop if it isn't sturdy enough... I really do hope you and all your animals stay safe during this storm. We'll be praying for youHi, I live in Houston, and Hurricane Harvey is heading our way. We are not evacuating, as we have pets, tenants, etc. I think we will be keeping the chickens in the bathroom, we don't wan't them blown away or anything. Do you have any advice on chickens and hurricanes? Topics such as: where to have them roost, eggs, boredom, and any other things you see fit.
Thank you in advance!![]()
Sucker's just sitting there spewing water.....The hurricane is already down to a level 1.
The Houston area is not going to get the big strong winds.
Just a lot of rain and flooding.
Couple of tornadoes did touch down last night in this area.Sucker's just sitting there spewing water.....
...something like 30" of rain over the next few days for Houston and Galveston.
Also see they have tornado warnings for same area.

The worst part is yet to come.
It's going to be from all the bayous and rivers flooding out of their banks.
Yes...I do not think my yard will flood.I do hope that your coop and birds stay high and dry.
I am thinking that your house is higher then the coop, yes?
