The SQ silkies are as dumb or dumber as the Sultans. I had to rescue my current one from the forest once because she got scared, ran down there, and couldn't figure out how to get back up.

Have either of you ever watched a turkey fly over a fence and then try to get back in? It's hilarious. :lau:lau:lau

Speaking of sales...here's a topic to discuss....chicken swings! MyPetChicken.com had them on sale so I bought one (for their amusement and my own). Anyone got one? Love it? Leave it? I already know my crazies will use it....two of them think they are bats as it is. :hmm
I've never even thought about spending $$ on it, seems like a waste---I could just be a meanie though.

Only turks I've had experience with were too wide to get off the ground, lol.

No! I was about to say I didn't realize they flew....but I have seen LA Swamp people and there was an episode where they hunted wild turkeys....the turkeys were in the trees. I was impressed!

Aha! That's what I thought....but wasn't sure. There is a Dolly World so why not a Wally World. Depending on which WalMart you use around here...it's either Weirdo Mart or
WackoMart. Those photos on line...I'm sure they come from ours.

just the fear mongers

I just want to know how they knew it was the chickens he got ill from.

fear mongers

It's fear mongering plain and simple. We're not smart enough to decide on where to get our food and what to eat. According to the same folks we'll all die from raw milk.

They sure want us to believe where not
Coats...I got covered :thumbsup
Got the light windbreaker, two jackets after that for varying degrees of cold/windiness, rain coat, trench coat, quilted coat and then the 3 degrees of "winter coat" - short peacoat, long peacoat, snow (ski jacket).
:lau
Don't worry....I'm not coat obsessed...just well prepared.

I have the same number

Every day lol. My little Pirate (14 weeks old) has become an expert at flying out of the pen but then paces around the outside repeatedly because she can't figure out that her wings still work outside the pen too lol

Since I missed the cold conversation, the coldest I've seen it get here is -12. THAT was extreme. Our poor old terrier mix (almost 14 years old) went out to pee and was walking so slow to come back in, like his joints were frozen!

Well folks, another good meal at the farm. First and most important is that my friend was right... A Red Bronze is WAY more flavorful than a nari. So at 1:30 Today, the RB went into the electric roaster with a cavity filled with: herbs (sage, thyme, oregano, rosemary and parsley), onions, celery, carrot, apple (granny smith and gala), orange, lemon, garlic and limes. a quart of stock in the bottom of the roaster. My custom turkey rub on the whole bird. 30 minutes at 300 degrees, 2 hours at 275, then 325 to finish until internal temp was 155. Out it came and under a foil tent to rest for 30 minutes. Skin was not crispy—but could have fixed by roasting at 425 for a few minutes after rest was done.. 22 week old bird was tender and full of flavor. Pretty much with the exception of the citrus, dinner was grown here. And if you've never tried pepper relish, you should. Only down side is my turkey's don't have enough fat. I have a half pound of fat that came off the gizzards, I should have thrown some of it in the roaster. I only had about a table spoon of fat in the drippings to make my roux. Had to thicken the gravy with sure jel.
