I cannot believe them. I order some chickens back in Feburary and they sent them about three weeks early while I was out of town, luckly my wife was able to pick them up, but you can imagine the confusion being call to get some chicks three weeks early. Well, they contacted me to make it right by refunding the shipping. I told them that would be great, but they never did. Also, one of the Polish they sent was the wrong kind, and a roo. Well, I contacted them again last Thursday, April 17, 2008, to let them know of the oversight. Well, I have yet to hear from them. I think that will be the last time I order from them. At first the customer survice seemed really good, but this is going on way to long.

Yikes! Sorry you had such a bad experience.

Hopefully they will make it right soon!

I've placed one order through a hatchery (not the same one) and my chicks never came. After waiting for 3 weeks, they sent me a letter when the chicks were supposed to be shipped to let me know that they can't ship to Virginia anymore. I think that will do it for hatcheries and me. (For a long time anyways!)

They finally gave me a refund for the shipping, but nothing on the wrong chick. I guess they read this forum. I have not recieved an email or call from them.

I wouldn't order diapers or saddles from them either. Did not have a good experience with the person who makes them for mypetchicken.

even though MM had a bad start to their business this year, they were always friendly and helpful. they refunded promptly and fairly.
I now have nearly 80 chicks from 9weeks to one week from them and they are mostly happy healthy and beautiful.
good luck

Hi modenacart,

I'm very sorry to hear that your experience with MPC was less than ideal. Chicken mania is sweeping the nation, and while we're excited that so many more people are interested in chicken keeping, it has posed some logistical problems for us and all of the hatcheries we work with! They each ship tens of thousands of chicks a week, and mistakes are bound to happen. They are rare, but I'm sure that doesn't help you to feel any better about your experience.

We checked our records and the refund on your shipping was taken care of last week The refund for the incorrect breed was a separate entry (in our systems), and we've taken care of that this afternoon.

We certainly understand your disillusionment, however we're glad that we know about it so we can improve our service in the future.

The refund was this week (Thursday), not last week, but they said they would refund the money 2/27/2008, two months ago. Even though the chicks were sent early, that wasn't the biggest problem. We were promised a refund two months ago, then we heard nothing... We also received the wrong chick, a black crested white rooster insead of a golden laced polish hen, which look nothing alike, but was told to keep waiting, the lacing would come in, and didn't recieve a refund for that. It's not the refund that we were so upset with, it was that MyPetChicken didn't respond to our latest email, which we still didn't have a response to. I still have the email I sent to them and the ones that were sent to us, so I know the dates. I know mistakes happen, but I expect a reponse when I send in a request.

I make my own saddles. I make one size for the single combed light brown leghorns and smaller standards and one for the bigger birds. They aren't that hard and I love that if they get gacky I can toss them in the washer. The only thing is I have to put them on at night when it's dark or the girls have a fit and I have to chase them to China and back before I catch them.

plfreitag ~ may I ask what a saddle is used for? I see that your chickens have a little coats ( I am assuming that's a saddle?) on, but why? Do they peck eachother, or does it keep them warm or protect them from getting dirty or something? Thank you ~ ( still a greenie on some chicken-stuff.) {:>)=
