I gave my chickens today...........................................

I gave mine a warm mash of chick-starter granules (they're 20 weeks but not laying yet), with whole milk, an egg (shell, too - crunched it up into fine bits) some corn meal and some mixed grains.
I like to give them a little snack before bed, to help keep them warm overnight now that it's starting to really get cold out there.
I usually just mix in various healthy things that I might have laying around. Some of their favorites are whole grain bread, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, apples, steel-cut oats, carrot peelings, pumpkins, cucumbers & peas.

Okay... So I went home last night excited to give my girls a nice warm oatmeal dinner after seeing everyones great posts about what they feed thier chickens and they hated it! SO we are now on to trying something else

Mine got their regular fermented feed breakfast. After they cleaned their plate, they had some cooked ground beef, leftover broccoli, and some fresh lettuce and kale snipped from the garden. Oh, and a handful of oyster shell.

They were happy girls when they went to bed!

For breakfast they got cold mash (layer pellets, scratch, whole oats, oyster shell w/ water) Went through one of the freezers today and pulled out three pieces of some fruit cake, that was their snack. Then again for supper they got mash. For some reason they love it a lot better than just plain 'ole dry pellets. ; )

What did you feed them? Did you put water in it? That is so weird my chickens love oatmeal. But, not all chickens like the same thing. Chickens like red things so you might want to put tomatoes or something red like that and see what they do. Tell me because I would like to know!!

Had a lot of eggs left over from a big breakfast event so the girls are getting an egg casserole! egg, cheese, pumpkin, bread, carrot, and strawberries, sounds disgusting I know they will love it!!!
