I got 6 La Fleche around Feb 24. I'm very happy with them too! (mine also from Ideal) I wish I'd gotten all La Fleche instead of getting some WFBspanish also. The WFBspanish look so awful in comparison (still tiny and only getting wing feathers but no other feathers - although they are lively and healthy so maybe it's just normal for that breed at this age). My La Fleche are big and look great just like yours. I got 3 girls and 3 boys :)

Your Spanish shouldn't be tiny but it's pretty typical for them to get wing feathers long before they cover up their body. As adults they do not moult quickly either. They drag it out and go into winter covered with pinfeathers. At least the youngsters are finally well feathered by then. Keep us updated please. Same with the LaFleche.

Thanks! I called Ideal and they said I probably had the heat too high for them in their coop. It's already getting hot here in Texas, so now I took out the heat lamps and hopefully they'll get the rest of their feathers soon now that I did that. I did notice a few little feathers coming in around the necks of some of them today. And I also noticed a few of the ones I thought were WFBspanish are actually black cochin bantams that also haven't feathered much yet. I guess they were getting too hot too! It's funny though the standard size cochins are super fluffy all over, and they've all been in there together! Overall the birds are all very healthy though so no complaints. I just noticed the difference in the feathering since they're all the same age and some look quite different than others.

I am glad to hear that someone else out there got some of the La Fleche breed from Ideal Poultry. I would love to see pictures of your La Fleche chicks.

I am on the waiting list for these little babies. The Mother Earth News Magazine declaired them the "best tasting birds". I guess they did a screening with all the most popular breeds with some of the heritage breeds. I had never heard of this breed until I read them in MEN magazine.

Glad you are happy with yours.
