For the judgemental ones, prepare to laugh...
My first tattoo was of a flying pig on my lower calf (just above the ankle) for 2 reasons. The first being that I'm in love with pigs. The second goes along with the saying: When pigs fly. Because I feel that nothing is impossible if you just try and believe in yourself. That will always be the one I'm proudest of.
My second tattoo, I had done for a relative's Sweet 16. I helped raise her and I wanted to do something special to celebrate her life. I had flowers and stars done around my shoulder blade. It's a beautiful tattoo and is everyones' favorite.
My third tattoo was of a blue moon wrapped in ivy. It says Daddy's Girl underneath in script. If you can't figure out why I got that one, go ask your Daddy
I'm proud of all of my tattoos. They help represent my life and the special people in it.
My parents and both of my sisters have tattoos as well. My mother has a few butterflies on her heart and my Dad has all 3 of his girls' names on one arm and an eagle with Father (for his passed Father) on the other.
Each of my sisters have "arse antlers." We are all proud of them.
They were all done by very good artists. I still want more but haven't found anything close enough to my heart to have it permanently added to my body yet. I usually spend at least a year thinking about tattoos before finally having one done because I never want to make the mistake of having something done that I'll regret.
I also like the fact that I can cover my tattoos when I don't want them seen. I do that when in a professional environment or around respected elders who don't understand or like tattoos. I will always do what I want with my body but I will also always be respectful of what others have to see on my body. I would never go around my grandmother in booty shorts (ew.) so in that sense, I won't necessarily go around my boss showing off my tattoos, although he doesn't mind...
I agree with to each their own but please show some respect to those with tattoos. Most of us would show you common courtesy so maybe you can think twice choosing to disrespect the ones that DO have tattoos. That respect thing is a swinging door, folks
