Very nice work, it’s beautiful and sure its means a lot to you to.
We get to a certain age and earned the right to do for ourselves and not care if everyone likes it.
You can never please those who hold judgment on someone else’s looks.

PS. Your Tec is a true artist.

I do not think that is the OP.

For the judgemental ones, prepare to laugh...
My first tattoo was of a flying pig on my lower calf (just above the ankle) for 2 reasons. The first being that I'm in love with pigs. The second goes along with the saying: When pigs fly. Because I feel that nothing is impossible if you just try and believe in yourself. That will always be the one I'm proudest of.
My second tattoo, I had done for a relative's Sweet 16. I helped raise her and I wanted to do something special to celebrate her life. I had flowers and stars done around my shoulder blade. It's a beautiful tattoo and is everyones' favorite.
My third tattoo was of a blue moon wrapped in ivy. It says Daddy's Girl underneath in script. If you can't figure out why I got that one, go ask your Daddy :)

I'm proud of all of my tattoos. They help represent my life and the special people in it.
My parents and both of my sisters have tattoos as well. My mother has a few butterflies on her heart and my Dad has all 3 of his girls' names on one arm and an eagle with Father (for his passed Father) on the other.
Each of my sisters have "arse antlers." We are all proud of them.

They were all done by very good artists. I still want more but haven't found anything close enough to my heart to have it permanently added to my body yet. I usually spend at least a year thinking about tattoos before finally having one done because I never want to make the mistake of having something done that I'll regret.

I also like the fact that I can cover my tattoos when I don't want them seen. I do that when in a professional environment or around respected elders who don't understand or like tattoos. I will always do what I want with my body but I will also always be respectful of what others have to see on my body. I would never go around my grandmother in booty shorts (ew.) so in that sense, I won't necessarily go around my boss showing off my tattoos, although he doesn't mind...

I agree with to each their own but please show some respect to those with tattoos. Most of us would show you common courtesy so maybe you can think twice choosing to disrespect the ones that DO have tattoos. That respect thing is a swinging door, folks :)

backdoorchicken, that is a stunning tattoo! I love it. I want a back piece too, but I'm so skinny I think it'll look a bit OTT on me!
I've my next tattoo planned already, but I'm looking for the right artist. I want to get something with a chick, maybe a chick held in hands with the word "egalite" (french for equality). Firstly because I love chicks and secondly because I believe all animals are equal and should be treated as such.

I have a tattoo of a cross with a dove holding a rose flying over it. It represents Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and it is on the inside of my left wrist for all to see.
I probably represent what most would think is the minority of tattoo bearers: College educated, crazy conservative, accountant, originally from New England, over 45, Jesus freak...
I was inspired to get a tattoo by 2 guys that I went with on a mission trip to Brazil. They were both photographers bearing tattoos over every square inch of visible body parts. They were also the kindest, sweetest, gentlest "kids" (20 something) that I have ever met. Each of their tattoos told a story of the Bible and turned out to be wonderful tools for witnessing in a jungle where nobody speaks your language. Pictures speak louder than words and people were drawn to these men and understood the stories that their tats represented. I was mesmorized! It was at that time that I decided to invest in some ink, although it took 2 years for me to decide what to have permanently etched on my body. I have never regretted it. It draws attention and comments that have led to great conversations in many spots of the US and in Africa, when I was on mission in Rwanda. I'm proud of my tat and both surprised and pleased with the reactions that it draws...even a big thumbs up from my 86 year old Mom! (she now wants a rose on her ankle)

Blessedchick:

Those guys sound so interesting and amazing!! I would really love to meet them!

Just goes to show you, you can't judge a book by it's cover. Most people ( who don't know them ) probably look at them and assume they are punks, or druggies, or what have you...but they are out there doing more good in this world than some of the suited up professionals most people look at with respect, who may actually be embezzling money, cheating on their wives, etc etc...we just can't see that by looking at them.

( Oh, and I'm also very conservative but very visibly tattooed, and am married to a very conservative "suited up professional guy", so nothing against the business people out there!!! Lol! )

Just sayin' you can never know what a person's all about 'til you get to know them.
