I was like, why would you ever want to feed squirrels??? I mean, birds eat mosquitoes so I can see wanting them around but what do squirrels do? Tear stuff up.

My cats seem to keep them away. Squirrels don't last long in my back yard.

I love squirrels! Never had any trouble with them in my garden, but that's probably because we're rural and they have all the acorns and wild food stuff they could possibly want. My father-in-law brought me one back in '05, a 4 week old baby that had fallen out of his nest and would have otherwise died. I had a blast raising that squirrel to adulthood and then turned him back into the wild. They are kinda like chickens--they have lots of personality! If I had time I'd up load a pic of Gilbert hanging out in the pocket of my bathrobe eating Cheerios. Too cute!

My husband also loves squirrels...but in a much different way. If you lived near us, he'd gladly come over and take care of your squirrel problem for you! LOL

I have a friend who rescued a baby found on the ground, raised it indoors for several weeks, then released it. It took off -- but returned daily for food and hugs. Not something I would have done.

Although I used to have a back yard full of them and did not have problems with destructiveness. Guess it just depends how crowded they are. I also had pecan trees there.
