Yes, they lay white. Odd that she laid one and gave up. All my Polish have been good layers but I've heard they're not the most reliable egg layer. Hopefully you'll get another egg soon, and it turns out she had a little stall getting started.
I have a Polish bantam pullet who laid her first egg about two months ago and hasn't laid since. At that time I noticed one of the roosters was mating her, but they have not shown any interest in her since. Her egg was white and pointy. Does that sound right? Do all Polish lay white eggs? I'm pretty sure I know each of my hen's eggs since they are Easter eggers. This pullet is my only Polish. I've checked everywhere to make sure she doesn't have a secret nesting spot and I've never caught her hanging out in any of the nesting boxes. All of my other hens and pullets are laying fine. What does this mean? She seems healthy and happy. It's driving me crazy![]()

I think they are very content in a confined area. I have always let my chickens free range and really couldn't imagine have chickens caged up, even in a large pen....until I got the Polish. I knew I would need to keep them separate because I'm breeding but once i realized that they are actually content to be in a confined space I sure felt better about it. I think that due to their limited vision that they do well in a more familiar area. I have 4 girls and they rarely miss a day! My first Polish that I had in my free range group was about 3 years old and she gave me about 3 eggs a week but she never hung with everyone. Pretty much stayed near the coop or in the barn, so I think you may be right about them feeling better in a designated space.
