I just set eggs this morning 3-13-12 Has anyone else?

Put mine in lockdown this morning. I feel good about 10 of the 15 shipped Black Copper Maran eggs I have setting. But egg number 11 is so dark i cant really tell anything so I didnt remove it from the bator. I did take out the other 4 that looked clear, broke em open to make sure and thank goodness no babies inside. I have culled them before thinking they were clear and turned out not to be. That really stinks when that happens.

Just candled again and decided to do every one of them this time. Out of 10 ducks, looks like 6 are still growing, out of 12 chickens, looks like 8 are making it to lock down. I think that's pretty good for a first time go with shipped eggs. Most of the eggs that quit have large air cells, so I think it's mostly due to shipping. Next time I buy eggs I think I'll get them somewhere I can drive to.

I thought some of you were talking lockdown yesterday?? Updates?? What's happening?? I need my fix so I will stop candling and hovering over my bators!

It's lock down for me tonight, with Tuesday being hatch day. I finally figured out what to use for a brooder, and it's all set up and ready for the chicks.
Some people were ahead of us with lockdown, so it should be soon that we hear something. Can't wait.

Well, I turned my eggs for last time last night, and I swear I heard squeaking. Thought it was my imagination, by it's not. I've had problems with my temps fluctuating from 98 to 103, with the average temp being 100. I guess I over cooked them and will have a few early birds......pun intended. lol.

I am getting very nervous...everyone is talking about chirping and eggs rolling around in their incubator....NOT HAPPENING HERE. I am so worried. I have checked that foolish incubator a million times today

. I am going to say lots of prayers tonight.

I am a few days behind everyone. Mine went in to lockdown tonight. I started out with 27, ended up with 14. They were shipped eggs, so I am very thankful for the 14. Countdown has begun!

I locked down 4 red sex links and 8 Brahma eggs this afternoon. Wednesday is hatch day for me....Goos Luck to everyone. My broody hatched 1 egg last night sometime I woke up to find her baby. She has three more eggs but i'm not too hopeful they will hatch today is day 23.

Eggs went into lockdown tonight. I'm more nervous than when my daughter had her kids.lol First time trying to hatch eggs and really not sure what I'm doing. I think I did everything right and then I think maybe not. Love to hear about and see others hatches. Got a lot of useful info on here. Hubby made the comment tonight and got me to think "how do chickens do this" lol
