I just told my daughter to steal a sick rooster!!! Pic Heavy!!!

I rushed on to the computer after work, not to see how well my DH's auction was doing on Ebay, but to see how the rescue chickens were doing!

Fast Track is a probiotic powder sold at places that carry horse supplies. It is for most types of animals. The powder mixes easily with the foods that you are feeding. Around 20.00 for a bag about the size of a small flour bag.

I just got probios paste and we stuck about an inch in her beak. There was a bunch of stuff for horses and or foals, but the probios was the only one that had other animals listed on it. So hopefully it will be what she needs. Another day down and I would say overall, much better than yesterday. We have a long, long way to go, but every day is a victory. This afternoon and evening she has been standing more often, although she still lays down to eat. I really think she was just in a cage her whole life. I get angrier and angrier about it each time I think about it. I think I will very casually call the feed store tomorrow and ask if they knew who dropped her off, because I would be happy to take any other ones that were sick or old. Maybe they will give me their name and number and I can call animal control... AFTER I go get as many as possible.

Look Mom!! I'm standing!!

And she is even sleeping standing up! I think she doesn't even know what to do with her freedom. I am going to hate putting her in her kennel tonight for bed.

I've been glued to this thread checking on these chickens!!! You are doing such a great job of nurturing this one back to health, congrats!!

I just seem to be second guessing everything I do and micromanaging till my brain is going to pop out. I did put her in the kennel last night cuz I was worried about her staying up on top of it. Maybe she was too cold in there? I didn't leave the brooder lamp on cuz I wanted her to have a dark room, but it was covered with a blanket. This morning she is very lethargic again and is either a late sleeper or having a hard time waking up. Her waddles and comb are brighter red today but still flopped over. Her poop is yellow runny and "gritty" this morning. She has taken a few sips of water over the last few minutes but is showing NO interest in her yummy musheduplayerpelletoatmealsoftcookedeggyogurt breakfast bonanza. Even when I put some on the end of her beak she wont even lick it up.

What do I do now???????? We gave her the probios paste yesterday and she had one rusty brownish solid poop yesterday but then immediately back to the runs. Do I give it again? Do I add antibiotics now? Which one? How much??

She sits on her kennel under the heat lamp, we sit on the couch directly in front of her and just stare, urging her telepathically to eat and be well.
