I just told my daughter to steal a sick rooster!!! Pic Heavy!!!

Would baby bird food be a good idea at this point??? If so then how much??? And would force feeding be detrimental??? She refuses to eat or drink. She at least seems more alert but is still not moving. Some of the scabs on her feet fell off after soaking in saline after a while. We put neosporin on the sores and wrapped them. We have only given her a few drops of the sulmet and one injection of the penicillin. Which would be better to continue???

Didn't you say you were fairly new to chickens? Sheesh, you are doing fantastic for someone who'd been around chickens your whole life, in my opinion. I'm new and I wouldn't even know where to start. No blaming yourself allowed.

Keep us up to date.

Remember that if she has mites B probably does too and to treat her. How is B doing?

Penicillian is a really good general type of antibotic. I'm not sure what sulmet is.

Tira is not doing as well as we would like. Lethargic, weak, pale except for the tips of her comb, droopy head, constantly closed eyes....I fear she is not faring well at all.

Has anyone ever heard of SubQ water? When Bucky was dehydrated from all his diarrhea the vet gave him a huge bolus of waterbetween his shoulder blades to rehydrate him. Has anyone ever tried that with a chicken???

subcutaneous water... I did read about someone doing that to a chicken on another web site. I'll see if I can find it.

So if you dribble water alongside her beak with an eyedropper, she won't drink it?

No, and she is now totally non-responsive. We are thinking that the time has come to put her out of her misery. This whole thing is just unfair to her. We can get NO response from her whatsoever. Im afraid the bittersweet ending we were all praying against has come around anyway.

She is still breathing but I dont think that there is anything we can do for her anymore. We just dont know what to do with this...
