Use a 22"short" makes a very small hole.

If no gun, you will have to use a club to the back of the head..I know it sounds cruel, but does kill them very quickly and is very effective.
You want to hit them were the spine goes into the back of the skull. Make sure to use enough force to get the job done right. Hope this helps.
