Welcome to BYC. I love reading short stories like these. I used to live a life of go, Go, GO until I started raising chickens. I now realize that I am not missing out on ANYTHING in the malls if I miss a store sale, a TV episode or overtime offered at work. Anymore, I just enjoy the little things like sitting in the coop with a chicken in my lap, watching chicken behavior, gardening and enjoying my home. It's like I was young with a fast expiration date, but now that I am older, I can finally stop and smell the chicken duty...and enjoy.
