We've been there too when we decided on a few animals we should have stayed away from. We learned from experience, that's for sure!

I'm sure my husband will let me know when we reach the limit.
That's what I thought. Then we went in to get chick grit. Came out with 4 more chicks which HE bought to replace the 2 Red Stars and 2 Buff Orpingtons that we lost in shipping. So next trip I went in, paid for my bag of shavings, and went right out to the van where he was waiting for me. Told him where to go around and have the shavings loaded, and mentioned that they had new chicks in - Speckled Sussex and Copper Marans. He thought for a second, said, "I've never seen those.", got out of the van, and I knew he was getting more chicks. I beat him to it! LOL

I have 9 adult chickens, 6 3 week old chicks, 3 week old ducklings, and 22 eggs that are due to hatch this coming Monday. My husband has agreed that we should build more coops and get up to 100-200 chickens.. Yes.. We are addicted.. And we have a long ways to go!

I'm a chick-newbie. I first told my love that I only wanted 2, that's pretty manageable right? Then I read that you should get 25% more than you planned for, just in case, so I decided 3 is a good number. Then I did so more research (I'm all for reading up before commiting) and after looking through suitable breeds for our area (Northern Wyoming) I've decided maybe 4-5. We have not bought any chicks yet, but I'm sure the number will change again. Hope this doesn't become an addiction lol
