i thought roosters are supposed to look out for their girls.not peck their brains out.

i have a three month old rooster'he is so mean to his girls .i put him in a seperate coop last night i could not stand hearing the rest of the flock scream.as he constantly pecked and pulled their feathers out.the lady that i bought my chicks from told me tthat she would take any roosters back that i did not want.so back he goes.

A rooster is necessary to a flock. If it's not for breeding, you should be fine w/ all girls.

i'am not interested in breeding at all.he's a beautiful americauna.i nursed him through cocci.and i was hoping for a pullet.he went to sleep in my arms last evening while my husband was putting the wire on the run that i was putting him in.if he was'nt so mean i would love to keep him.
