I want to hatch more eggs...what's wrong with me?

Same here. I hatched the last group of babies (promised myself it was the last) and found a good home for them a few days ago since I swore to myself I wasn't going to have chicks AT ALL this winter. Then, sigh, today, all hope was lost on my plan, because, well, the most beautiful egg I ever saw was laid by a golden cuckoo marans hen (her first egg). It is hopeless. I can't resist. Just glad to hear I'm not alone

well, i bid on an auction, got outbid, then found out she had some more eggs she'd let me have for the same as the auction. 8) so i've got 24+ bantam cochins on the way, plus whatever dorking eggs i have at the time, plus enough mutt bantams to fill the gaps in the 'bator. should go in thursday or friday.

I got eggs in the mail today. I claimed BLRW on the swap in June. So I finally got eggs, they are EE and 2 Delaware. Kind of not worth the wait , but better than nothing I guess . Now I am going to have to figure out where to put them. Maybe I will candle tonight to make room .Hatch on, folks!

hate to tell you but you have hatching fever very very hard to stop hatching you think every egg is a chick . i was this way this summer first thing i new we had over four hundred chicks . ran out of brooders and grow pens had to quit for a while . but sure do misshaving the incubator running. i am waiting on my birds to go back laying well .will hatch more a very bad habit to break. good luck to every one hatching and raising birds.

Being new to raising chickens and having been told by Hubs that I am not to even consider expanding is slowing me down a bit. We got our coop before we understood chicken math.

Everything I am reading on BYC about hatching eggs is intriguing and I absolutely can't wait to try it myself. I might be able to convince Hubs that it would be a great experience for our grandchildren. How did you get started in this addiction, and just wondering here you keep your incubators? We kept our chicks in the livingroom! I was for putting them in the basement but my husband thought it was better upstairs. It was not a problem and they grew into very friendly chickens because we stopped and petted and talked to them when we went by the brooder.
