Icelandic Chickens

I couldn't wait any longer. I woke up and went out in the garage to candle that broody's eggs while it was still dark. I found one with a live chick inside! And it had pipped the air cell! It was chirping and moving when I had the light on it. COME ON, BABY!!! Both your mama's need a baby!!

I couldn't find the other two that had developed a good ways, though, so I don't know what's going on out there. Found three more that are developing blood veins very nicely. Waiting through today to see if I have a chick is going to be so hard!

Here is a picture I took today of a group of pullets enjoying the sunshine....not the temp, though it is above freezing (at the moment).....just the sunshine........

My 3 Icelandic chicks that I hatched from my flock this past weekend

The 4 Icelandics that I just hatched from NotAFarm

*I ended up helping a couple because they were cemented into their eggs - one is going to need a boot&hobble to help with its one leg

And the 4 German New Hampshires I hatched from NotAFarm - Humidity was a problem this hatch so I lost a few of these
