Icelandic Chickens

Coldupnorth, congrats on your chicks! They look great.

And...............

I HAVE A CHICK!! It's still drying out under mama, but I did see a wet little leg and foot. My broody is being very protective of her baby. I'm so proud of her. She seems very happy to finally have a baby (she's been broody for a month, now) There is a second egg that could potentially hatch in a few days or so. I hope it makes it okay

My second generation of Icelandics! [/quote Yay for a new generation of cute Icelandic chicks! Good job broody momma! :D

I got up early this morning and took the eggs that looked bad out from under my broody, since I couldn't tell last night. Got a peek of the new little chick while I was searching the eggs. It blonde! Flekka was pure yellow when she was a baby. This pne looks to have some faint chipmunking on its back, from what I could see. I wonder if it will turn out speckled, like its mama? Pictures later today - I promise!

Okay, not quite as blonde as I thought earlier (hey, it was dark and I had a flashlight!) But still super cute, nonetheless. You can see that my broody is making sure I don't do anything stupid with her baby

Brad, I like you more and more.....he must have been a great dad, he raised a great son.
Ditto!
Today is the day that we lost my Father in Law. He went through the ice with his snowmobile 3 years ago. I miss him terribly, like he was my own father. Memories cannot be taken away, thank goodness!
So sorry.

Congrats Red!
