Icelandic Chickens

Yeah, it's super cute. But with that comb, I bet it's a cockeral!

I think so, too. I think one of the light ones is male, as well. That would be a great start, two of each! Doesn't really matter at all .... I am just so humbled and honored to have these special chicks!

Imagine all the color possibilities you'll get with 2 different color roosters and 2 different color females!

Kathy~
I love them.....congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!

Life goes on Kelly. Thanks for trying. I will have plenty for you to get some rally nice ones. 16/18 are viable in the incubator from my second egg source. I am so excited to see what I get out of these.

Note to Kathy. Icelandics have weird combs so I wouldn't be sure quite yet. I am not sure if the combs develop slower in females but I do know they can have wild and funky big combs. Your babies are adorable!

We got home today and I saw my Icelandic babies for the first time in 2 weeks. One, who showed no sign of a crest at all, has a huge reddish crest! These are like Teenage Mutant Ninja Chickens so expect anything. I can't wait to feel better and haul mine back up to the house for photos.

Back to pain meds and bed.

Thanks for posting and keeping the dream alive.

mary

p.s. How's the coop coming along Kelly?

What do you sell eggs for? I am dieing to get some! When I first read the article in Backyard poultry magazine I contacted the man it had listed. I did it over and over but I never got a response.
