It's a beautiful Spring day, sunshine, temp is near 70 degrees and the grass is greening!!! What better time to post some Chickie Mama and baby pics!!
All eleven in one shot (keep in mind that a couple are Auburn Javas-the two look alikes between Mama's head and the yellowish chick).
The second is of the "Poser".
The other pic is of them enjoying the grass and sunshine for the first time.
I'm sure you'll all be sick of seeing this group of chicks before I tire of posting pics of them!
Good thing I'll have more next week and the week after!!
Egils Saga , translated from the Norse and the Icelandic on Amazon.com
This is one of the old sagas of Iceland that begins in Norway and King Haralds court. Widely considered to be as much actual history as literature.
Within these stories are vignettes of all of the livestock of the Vikings, including the chickens, it gives an excellent view of the environment and culture that the breed evolved in.
Two of these got into my pasture today while I was away for a couple of hours.. The only thing between them and my Icelandics was a 4 ft fence. The only weapon DH had was my camera. He was going to the barn for the BB gun when they found their way off our property.
I am 62 years old and only one time in my life have a lived in a house/apartment where the neighbors dogs weren't a problem. I think that is why I harbor a deep hatred for canines. And, oh, how I despise irresponsible dog owners.
I would not be nearly as nice about this as you are, Mary. Nope, the owners would not want to deal with me. Simply put, the dogs would have disappeared had they been on my property!
