Last two incubator babies hatched this morning. I got two of the dark ones which is great becuase the last few have been blonde or chipmonk. Here they are:

Now it is all up to Lukka who is sitting on three eggs due to hatch on Saturday.

Awww, they are adorable! And I can't wait to see Lukka with her babies.

Question: Did Sigrid have Lukka and Henna in with the 2 roosters she gave you, or were there other roosters in with the girls too? I'm wondering if the chicks could have different fathers than the 2 roosters you got? I'm just curious.

I can hardly wait to see what these look like as they grow! What variety. Just way cool!

My broody, Lukka hatched four chicks from Sunday until yesterday. I made the difficult decision to cull the last one. It was never going to survive and Lukka wouldn't leave it to care for the others. She has three beautiful babies that she is mothering like an old pro this morning. Here are pictures.

Thanks Kathy. After I saw the pics I panicked about having the nest box catty cornered. I was worried about a chick somehow getting behind it and not being able to get out. I hurried back down and squared it against the wall while Lukka pecked me half to death! Now I have to go back down and clean the poop off the top!

We have lockdown! Mary, all 6 of them show development!

I have moved them out of the Sportsman incubator, into the HovaBator hatcher. Now the looooooong wait until the 22nd or 23rd! (Thursday night or Friday).
